FAQ

From time to time you ask these questions

Which Wig Collection to choose?

We offer several collections on our store to best suit your needs:

EXTRA THIN HAIRLINE GLUELESS WIGS COLLECTION

Lace top wigs in this collection have well bleached knots, low density and pre-plucked hairline, which allows to achieve extremely realistic-looking results. With our genuine HD lace combined those wigs look absolutely fantastic on clients without their bio hair. And for those you have their own bio hair, with scar tape added and/or loose powder used, natural looking results can be achieved. Wigs have thinner hair ends which creates imperfect realistic look. Several cap constructions available in this collection, the most popular is “Glueless stretchy”.

LACE FRONT WIGS COLLECTION

Lace front wigs collection wigs are liked by those who like flat partings yet higher hair density and thicker hair ends and highest grade European hair. Wigs have firm ear tabs which is especially good for first time wig wearers. This collection is perfectly suitable for those who have their own hair, as well as for those with no hair at all. We offer a range of knots: can be perfectly bleached, but some – slightly bleached or not bleached at all. Hairline is not as sparse as in Extra thin hairline wigs collection but it might be preferred by the clients who have their own dark hair.

SILK TOP WIGS COLLECTION

In this collection we offer silk top lace front hairpieces that have 4.5x4.5 inches silk top for most realistic parting. The silk top that we make is unique in a way that it doesn't have any hair returns, can be styled to be extremely flat and looks like the hair is growing from your scalp. You can part the hair anywhere in the silk top area. In this collection we offer two cap constructions:

- “Glueless stretchy with 4.5"x4.5" silk top” cap suitable for those who has sensitive skin, and does not like to feel any pressure or tightness. We developed this cap with cancer patients in our mind who usually have increased skin sensitivity during the treatment so it is extremely soft and natural. However, it has extra layer of soft fabric, so it is hotter to wear.

- “Silicon/Suction/Gripper cap with 4.5"x4.5" silk top” is made with high quality silicon lining which vacuums the skin, so wig stays in place even when head is in a shaky upside-down position. This cap construction is made in mind of women with complete hair-loss who want ultimate security without the adhesives, or someone that leads an active lifestyle, such as taking sports. It works perfectly when a person doesn’t have any hair of their own – that way silicon cap is super secure because it is able to vacuum to the head perfectly.

What hair type do we use?

www.Hairalicious.com uses only the highest quality grade human hair that is available in the market. Such hair is considered premium because it lasts longer and looks natural.

CUTICLE HAIR
Cuticle hair is hair that has its cuticles left intact. The donor’s hair is cut while held in a ponytail, guaranteeing that all cuticles flow in the same direction from root to the tip. The cuticles protect the hair from damage, tangling and gives the hair a natural, smooth, shiny and healthy appearance.

VIRGIN
Virgin hair which has not been permed, colored or chemically processed in any way before we dye that hair ourselves.

EUROPEAN DOUBLE DRAWN HAIR
It feels very soft and smooth, has a lot of volume.
We believe the quality of the hair is much more important than the origin of it and we are pleased with the quality of European hair we use.
European hair is available in these collections:
SILK TOP WIGS COLLECTION
LACE FRONT WIGS COLLECTION
European hair that we use is double drawn. Double drawn hair is drawn twice so shorter hair are eliminated by both - machine and hands. This ensures a solid length from top to bottom.

BRAZILIAN SINGLE DRAWN HAIR
To achieve natural-looking bleached knots all light-colored to brown wigs are colored on extremely pre-lightened hair. This is inevitable when trying to achieve extremely realistic hairline and parting without a silk top.
Brazilian hair is available in EXTRA THIN HAIRLINE GLUELESS WIGS COLLECTION
Brazilian hair that we use is single drawn. The hair is single drawn so the hair becomes thinner when getting close to the ends, while it is thicker on the top. Preferable for those who are looking for an imperfect realistic look.

How long do your hair systems last?

The lifespan of our hair systems is determined by how well they are taken care of. Usually, lifespan is from 6 months to several years depending on how often they are worn and how well they are taken care of and what chemical treatment it had to undergo when being made.

As a rule of thumb hair in virgin color (which is „natural black“) will hold much better than in light or highlighted color. Also, straight hair is always more moisturized than wavy hair or curly. So if you order light color or highlighted hair in a curly texture, only very highest grade pure hair has to be used; however, such chemical process would definitely have a negative impact on quality of hair and so shortens its lifespan.

Would parting look natural?

The appearance of the parting area depends on whether you choose a wig with „Silk top“ or not (see pictures below).

Extra thin hairline glueless wigs collection do not have „Silk top“ and has fully bleached knots to achieve natural-looking results. For those you have their own bio hair, an integrated stocking cap is added inside the cap construction so there would be no need to glue a stocking cap in order to hide bio hair underneath. Alternatively, you could use silicon tape, concealer or loose powder.

Lace front collection wigs do not have “Silk top”, which allows to achieve gradual density transition at the hairline. Hairline is not as sparse as in Extra thin hairline glueless wigs collection but it might be preferred by the clients who have their own dark hair. Some knots can be perfectly bleached, but some – slightly bleached or not bleached at all. Make sure to check that information in product description.

A hair system with „Silk top“ has a parting that looks like the hair is growing out of your scalp. It is an innovative ventilation technique that creates the most flawless appearance of the parting space. Wigs in that collection do not require any preparation and the scalp looks the same regardless if a stocking cap is worn or not.

Hair can be parted in any direction either way – if the hair system has a silk top or not.

Would hairline look natural?

EXTRA THIN HAIRLINE GLUELESS WIGS COLLECTION wigs are preferred by those who are looking for a wig that has the most realistic looking hairline. Wigs in this collection have well bleached knots, low density and pre-plucked hairline, which allows to achieve extremely realistic-looking hairline.

LACE FRONT COLLECTION wigs have gradual density transition at the hairline, however the hairline is not as sparse as in Extra thin hairline glueless wigs collection. Such hairline might be preferred by the clients who have their own dark hair. Some knots can be perfectly bleached, but some – slightly bleached or not bleached at all. Make sure to check that information in product description.

SILK TOP WIGS COLLECTION  wigs have silk top for the most realistic looking parting, so such wigs have transition line from lace to silk top. More hair is added between the lace and the area where the silk top begins so it would be easier to hide the edge of the silk top at the front; therefore, gradual density transition at the hairline cannot be achieved.

The biggest difference between a silk top wig and lace top wig is that the wig with silk top gives the most natural looking parting, and it looks like the hair is growing from scalp, and the wig without it gives the most natural looking hairline. You just have to think which is the most important to you.

Can I wear your hair system in a high ponytail?

Yes, you can wear all our hair systems that have lace ear tabs in a high ponytail.

If you want to  achieve the most realistic high sleek ponytail, choose  „Glueless Stretchy“ cap with lace ear tabs from Extra thin hairline glueless wigs collection.

Glueless stretchy with 4.5″x4.5″ silk top from Silk top wigs collection and Lace top cap from Lace front wigs collection have firm ear tabs so high ponytail is not available with such cap constructions, but you can achieve messy ponytail and various updos with such wigs as well. Such messy ponytail and updos are sufficient enough for the majority of the clients.

How should I measure the head?

1.Use a cloth measuring tape.
2. Measure holding the tape snug, but not tight against the head.
3. Keep tape flat against your head and do not allow kinks or twists to develop in the tape.
4. Braid, Wrap, or lay your hair how you plan to wear it under the wig before measuring your head for your wig.

5. Measure your head circumference with a tape measure around your hairline
Circumference defines the distance around your head. Starting at the center of the front hairline, place the tape flat against your head, going just above the ear towards the back of the head, keeping the tape at the nape of your neck and go around to the opposite side of your head, just above the opposite ear and returning to the center of the front hairline.

6. Measure Front to Nape
Front to Nape: This measures the length of your head from the front to the nape of your neck. To determine where the nape of your neck is, tilt your head back and look up. Where your neck bends and may even develop a skin fold, is where your nape is. You want the bottom of the wig to sit right above this area so that when you do tilt your head back that far, your wig will not shift on your head. This area is often right at the occipital bone, but be sure to take the measurement with your neck bent down so that you are looking at your shoes. Starting at the front hairline, measure directly across the middle top of your head to the area that you have determined is your nape.

Can your hair system be cut to your desired style?

Most clients require cutting and styling so the shape of the wig suits the face, lifestyle and comfort level. Some of our styles are available for additional haircut by our professional hair stylist. If you see a question “Would you like to customize this style?” below product description, you can choose “Yes”, select "Add haircut", and choose a haircut you prefer from our standard haircut list.

How should your hair system be washed?

Keep the hair clean. When dirt and sweat accumulate, hair tangles.

o Prior to washing your wig, make sure you comb it out thoroughly when the hair is still dry.

o Wash the hair under running water.  To maintain the rich color use cold water. The colder water is, the better! Never use hot water.

Avoid washing with shampoos containing SULFATES, as sulfates can be very harsh on hair and cause dryness.

o Pour a small amount of shampoo into your hands. Rub your hands together to distribute the shampoo along your palms. Apply the shampoo to the wig hair by stroking your hands along the length of the hair and dunk it up and down. Do not rub or apply any friction. Gently rinse the shampoo out using the same technique.

o Repeat the step with conditioner. You can gently finger comb down the length of the hair to distribute conditioner and detangle. Do not use any conditioner, hair mask, oils etc. on the wig base, apply it only from the mid-length to tips.  Let the conditioner sit on the hair for a few minutes.

o After rinsing conditioner from the wig, carefully squeeze out excess water with a hand towel. Do not briskly towel dry. Wrap the towel around the length of the hair and press to remove excess water. Do not twist or wring the hair. After removing as much water as you can, place it on the wig stand to air dry.

What are styling tips and restrictions?

o Brush the hair gently with a wide-toothed comb. Always brush the hair from the bottom working your way up. This will help to prevent breakage while detangling.

o You can do with your wig whatever you would do with your own hair. You can cut it, style it, dye it, perm it, etc. However, it is important to note that any extra chemical treatment damages the hair and lowers its quality and lifetime.

o Any hair products can be used on wigs, such as hair spray, mousse, gel, etc. since the wigs are washable and reusable. However, it is advisable to avoid hair products that contain alcohol. Alcohol makes the hair dry.

o Please keep in mind that the hair for your wig has been cut, and so it will not be moisturized by a human body anymore. Therefore, it is advisable to apply some leave-in conditioner on the hair ends to prevent the hair from dryness. Never apply it on the wig base, especially not on a silk top.

o More is not always better. Avoid overusing leave-in hair care products. Too much of it will create a buildup and will cause the hair to tangle faster. Therefore, keep the hair clean by washing it regularly. If the hair feels dry or heavy with buildup, wash it.

o It is best to air dry the hair but you can also blow-dry with low to medium heat. Be sure to use heat protection before using heat tools (e.g. curling iron/flat iron). Too much heat may damage/dry out the hair, just like it would do with your own hair.

o If you want a wavy look with absolutely no damage, try styling damp hair into a French twist on both sides and let it sit overnight. When unraveled, the hair will have a nice soft wavy look.

o When brushing hair at the roots, avoid using fine-tooth type of combs that don’t have tiny balls at the bristles. Spikey comb teeth can catch on the wig’s knots and loosen them, causing shedding.

Can I sleep with your hair system?

It is better not to sleep with the wig, but if you decide to, make a couple of big braids or buns when going to sleep with a wig, or make a silk wrap. Make sure the hair is completely dry before going to bed. Never sleep with wet hair.

How should hair system be stored?

While wig is not in use, it may be stored in a hair net, plastic bag, wig stand, mannequin head. When traveling, a styled wig may be carried in a box to prevent flattening.

Do our hair systems shed?

o ALL lace wigs shed. Shedding from here and there is normal, but if you notice a particular shedding pattern, such as patches of baldness, this is the sign that hair is not rinsed enough when washing the wig.

o To avoid shedding in the silk top area, it is crucial to rinse the silk area very well when washing the hair that no product residual is left between the layers. If you do not rinse the silk top enough, the buildup of products between the layers might cause the hair knots to loosen, and therefore shed.

o Do not roughly brush your wig when it’s completely wet. To avoid hair breakage, use a wide-tooth comb, rather than a brush, to remove tangles after washing your hair. Always work tangles out starting from the hair ends.

o Avoid scratching your scalp through your wig, as this will cause shedding. Instead, remove your wig and treat your scalp with an anti-itch shampoo and conditioner, and then moisturize your scalp with oil to prevent itching.

o Please be aware that adhesives (glue or tape) and solvents, that contain alcohol to remove adhesives, significantly shorten the lifespan of a wig, especially if a wig is blond or has bleached knots.

Are there any restrictions when swimmig or excercising?

o Always wash the hair immediately after swimming, spa, exercise, etc., with shampoo and conditioner. When dirt and sweat accumulate, hair tangles.

o When swimming, always wear a cap to prevent long exposure to chlorine or salt water which causes the hair to tangle. When going to the spa, the hair should be brushed out completely and should be wrapped in a cold wet towel.

Is it normal that wig has dye stains on a cap?

Our hair pieces are hand dyed, so there is a lot of customization and personal touch that goes into these wigs. Many if not most of our pieces tend to have stains on the inside. That is unavoidable when everything is dyed by hand, rather than factory made. It is a standard in wig industry, especially if colors are sophisticated, such as balayage, melted roots--those cannot be achieve by machine and requires professional colorist's services.

However, these stains aren't visible when the hair is worn, as they are in the areas which are completely covered with hair. Once again, this is normal and doesn't have any impact on the final look of the wig.
